Nailed It.

Okay. First of all, who has this much tuna with chilli??

Um, that would be me. I showed the boy, and he said 'Oh, and I had a couple last week' - there were MORE. By the way, I had the John West Tuna Tempters Chilli one yesterday for lunch with a teriyaki-flavoured 40 second microwave rice from Sun Rice (I think?) and it was the best lunch I've had in forever. With the rice at $2.50 for a two-pack, and the tuna being $1 (both on special), it was pretty darn cheap too.

I don't know about you, but I am still loving matte nails. Since I saw this picture many moons ago, I have been looking for a cheapo matte black polish.

I found this one on eBay (jeez, do I shop anywhere else?) for a whopping USD$3.79 which worked at about AUD$3.60. I was anxious to receive it, but of course coming from Hong Kong, it took over a week. As soon as I got home and opened the package, I quickly applied some, very unsure of what to expect. I wasn't expecting a lot of the price, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The formula is thick, and only requires one medium-thick coat, or two thin ones. The result is a streak-free nail that somewhat resembles a blackboard.

I painted my nails very quickly before work yesterday and didn't have time to 'clean up' (should have done it before my shower, duh) so you won't be getting any amazing pics like the one above.

Hopefully you can see the matte effect. I know they're small, but my messy application is embarrassing, haha. The blurry picture shows off the matte better.

Last night I decided to try out a bunch of coloured tips, as I couldn't pick just one colour. I tried a shiny black polish with small silver glitter the first time, but it didn't end up looking amazing. Here are my blurry and rushed efforts before going out for dinner. Yes, I went out to dinner and to work today with multi-coloured, non-matching nails. I'm CRAZY

Please ignore the pink sausage fingers. We had the heater up really
high, and my poor fingers got red and fat from the heat!
The pictures are blurry for a reason people - my nails actually look so shocking it's not funny. Anyway, as you can see, I tried out a bunch of different colours. Some worked, some didn't. I'm particularly partial to the navy blue on my middle finger in the first picture. Apart from that, some just looked hilarious (index finger, second picture, anyone? You'd never know that I've actually been painting my nails for for 15 years...)

Point of this post - the CHEAP matte nail polish I got off eBay actually looked decent. Next time I will clean up and hopefully not be hideously embarrassed by my awesome paint job. If you're wanting to experiment with a matte polish, try this! Up next for me is a mattifying top coat. Cannot wait to try it over a navy polish, and a dark red polish. Excited!

xx

  1. I really like the matte nail look with the shiny nail tips :)

I like the idea of the multi coloured nail tips as well! This from someone who wants to try ombre nails but can't because I don't have enough shades of any one colour in polish. :(

I'm sure it looked great in person too! :)

    1. Honestly it was just laziness that led to multicoloured tips. I wanted to try a whole bunch of different colours but didn't want to do them all separately over a few weeks. Multicoloured tips could look nicer if they matched, I'll try in the future haha.

I've been wanting to try ombre nails too. I think I'll give it a go this weekend... yay! Thanks for the comment :)
