Hat Lady.

Image from current Kmart catalogue

I've been after a wide-brimmed floppy hat for a while. Of course, being the total scrooge that I am, I haven't bought one online, as they all seem to be around $40 and over.

I had pretty much given up, and just accepted the fact that I would never own one. Until I was walking around Kmart a few days ago, looking for a scarf for my little brother (stylish little dude!). Didn't find a scarf, but I found these suckers for only $15 each! The tag says '100% wool', and they feel quite nice - much nicer than the one I found in another store recently, which felt like a piece of felt that was covered in dry glue (remember in primary school, when you'd glue your piece of felt to something in art class, and the Clag wouldn't hold it, so it'd fall off and be stiff and itchy feeling? It was like that. Haha.)

It came in three colours: black, the colour above (which was a bit darker IRL) and a gorgeous dark red/burgundy colour.

I haven't actually bought one yet, as I couldn't decide on a colour... they were all really pretty! Will have to go back ASAP... Until then, here are some cheapies from Asos in case you're loving these hats as much as I am right now!

Catarzi Exclusive For Asos Floppy Hat - currently on sale for $22.37 (red only)

ASOS Colour Block Floppy Hat - currently on sale for $24.86

  1. no way! What an awesome baragin... I am a huge fan of the floppy hat, but I've never been sure if I could pull it off. For $15 I can :) GREAT find!

  2. Love floppy hats! I want one but I'm slowly easing into hat wearing - I only have a cute little vintage sun hat and don't wear it very often.

The kmart one is my fave - I will have to go check them out! It's amazing how many wonderful things kmart has :) Still so pleased with my last shopping haul from there.

    1. I have been buying quite a few hats over the last twelve months, but honestly, I haven't worn many of them yet. Mostly because I never really got a chance to get outside during summer I guess.

Kmart is awesome. Some of clothing is a bit shoddy (quality-wise), but you can find a lot of nice pieces for such cheap prices. Also, it's kind of one of my only shopping choices down here in the country, so I find myself in there usually at least once a week!

Definitely check out the hats. They're really quite nice :)

    2. Yeah I think hats become more of a cool weather thing, unless they are sun hats of course :) doesn't stop me wanting to buy them though ;)

I've found some great pieces at kmart, but definitely think some of them need to be tried on first. Always an opportunity to find a great piece though :) I gotta save for more bags somehow ;) haha! :)

    3. I don't really have any winter hats, so I really should just pick a colour and buy one of these! Haha

My favourite work pants are from Kmart, and they were only $8. And I LOVE that horse dress that the model is wearing in that pic (not that colour, I prefer the black one they have - it's not so 'loud') but my partner HATES it. I've never seen him hate an article of clothing so much. I have a feeling I'll still buy it anyway ;)

And I'm hearing you on saving for bags! I just need to pick one (or more) to buy, but I'll need to replace the savings so I don't feel too guilty!

  4. Hehe, I love hats!! I didn't used to although I've always worn hats since a young age (my mother was very stern about always wearing hats to protect skin!) but I think it was because I hadn't found the right one yet! Now I love how practical they are as well as how unique they make me - rarely anyone wears a hat to uni and so I stand out with mine!

Just over the weekend I found a leopard-print hat at Jay Jays, which is now reduced to $5! BARGAIN. :)

    1. Totally agree about the unique thing! I never see anyone wearing hats down here where I'm living, so I'm a little hesitant to start. I need some guts and inspiration!

I saw VERY similar (probably the same) hats to the ones in this post at Jay Jays for $5 a week ago. Kicking myself that I didn't get a couple, hopefully they'll still have one tomorrow night. Didn't see the leopard-print one, but I just saw it on your blog - gorgeous!!
